A Chinese doctor has died after he took an anti-inflammation drug to treat a chronic cough.
The 57-year-old Chinese doctor had suffered a heart attack and died on Saturday in hospital, according to Chinese media reports.
“The doctor had developed a chronic case of pneumonia and the symptoms of pneumonia gradually worsened,” a statement from his family said.
“He had taken medicine for this for almost six years and had been suffering from respiratory problems.”
“He died of pneumonia on Saturday,” the statement said.
“The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.”
In May this year, a man from the US state of North Dakota developed a cough after taking a prescription anti-cholinergic drug, and died.
